Man charged with street racing offenses in Anaheim

A man involved in a street takeover that injured two passers-by Anaheim was charged, according to police.

Hassan Hamid Ali, 20 years old Torrancewas charged with reckless driving causing injury, assault with a deadly weapon, failure to respond to a hit and run with injury or death, all felonies, and one misdemeanor count of speeding. He also faces sentence enhancements for causing grievous bodily harm.

According to authorities, the incident happened on Nov. 1 around 2 a.m. near State College Boulevard and Orangewood Avenue.

Two bystanders were hit by a black Dodge Charger, which was later linked to Ali as the driver. The two 19-year-old victims were found lying in the street next to the car, which was abandoned.

Both teenagers were hospitalized with broken bones, lacerations and abrasions, authorities said.

An investigation revealed that the two bystanders were hit by the Charger when it went out of control. The two were apparently run over and trapped under the charger for a short time.

Videos of the incident went viral on social media and thanks to tips from the public, police were able to identify Ali as the driver.

Ali was arrested on Sunday and booked for hit and run and speeding.

The investigation is ongoing.
