Rutherglen Street has been closed after a car-pedestrian collision

A South Lanarkshire street has been closed following a crash involving a car and a pedestrian.

Emergency services were called to Main Street in Rutherglen after the collision was reported at around 4.10pm on Tuesday.

Officers closed the streets between McCallum Avenue and Hamilton Road and road users were urged to avoid the area.

No other information was provided about the injuries.

The severity of the pedestrian’s injuries is unknown at this time.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: “At around 4.10pm on Tuesday 5 November we received a report of a crash involving a car and a pedestrian on Main Street, Rutherglen.

“Emergency services are in attendance and Main Street is closed between McCallum Avenue and Hamilton Road.

“Drivers are asked to avoid the area.”
