Calcutta High Court allows urgent hearing on communal violence plea against Hindus and Sikhs in Kolkata

The Calcutta High Court has agreed to hear a plea alleging cases of communal violence against Hindus and Sikhs in Kolkata’s Rajabazar area.

Counsel argued that the violence has been going on since Durga pujaand it had continued to intensify.

It was alleged that stones were pelted and bombs were hurled at members of the Hindu and Sikh communities by miscreants trying to create communal disharmony.

It was stated that the plea needed to be heard urgently as the violence continued and thousands of people were affected by these clashes.

On hearing the plea, a Division Bench a Justices Harish Tandon and Hiranmay Bhattacharya I listed the application for hearing tomorrow.
