GTA 6 ‘Will crush people,’ says ex-developer

Game designer Ben Hinchliffe has worked at Rockstar Games for over a decade and has contributed to games such as Grand Theft Auto V, Red Dead Redemption II and Grand Theft Auto VI before leaving the company in 2022. In a new interview, Hinchliffe briefly discussed GTA VI, saying he thinks the game will “crush people” and be a smashing success when it comes to sales.

“It will sell an absolute ton, as it always does. People will be talking about it for ages after, just like they do with GTA 5,” said Hinchliffe. GTA VI Time. “I think they’ve raised the bar again. They always do and they’ve done it again with GTA 6.”

Asked what he’s most excited about for GTA VI, Hinchliffe said he’s eager to see how the game has evolved since left in 2022. He didn’t give much away, though, which is to be expected for such a secretive project. Hinchliffe now works at Sniper Elite VR studio Just Add Water.

GTA VI is scheduled to release in holiday 2025 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. The game takes place in Vice City, which is a stand-in for Miami, Florida. The first trailer for the game was released in early December 2023, and to date, Rockstar Games has not released any additional material or official details about the game.

GTA VI comes to the market with an enormous amount of hype and expectations behind it. After all, GTA V sold over 200 million copies. Parent company Take-Two will release its next earnings report on November 6, but there’s no word yet on whether there will be any GTA VI news.
