Kikis Court Fan Club supports the Akrofu community with sanitary pads

By Samuel Akumatey

Akrofu (V/R), November 5, GNA – Kikis Court Fan Club (KCFC), a social media group has supported the Akrofu community in Ho Central Municipality with over 500 packs of absorbent pads.

Period hygiene remains tied to accessibility, and for girls in most communities, providing a menstrual pad is a persistent challenge.

In this regard, the Fan Club established the Menstrual Pad Founders Project, which is a five-year program to contribute to menstrual hygiene, and the donation was part of the commemoration activities of the annual Akrofu Yam festival.

Mr Christian Donkor, founder, Kikis Court Fan Club, said a ‘Pad bank’ would be set up to help support the initiative.

“The main focus is for like-minded individuals from all walks of life to come together and reach out to communities, giving back to help women and young ladies,” he said.

Mother Akua Sabea Nyabor, Supreme Queen of Akrofu, who is a friend of the club, expressed her appreciation for the support and said she looks forward to more rewarding collaborations for women and youth in the community.

Kikis Court Fan Club was established in 2020 and has a current membership of over 250.

The founder, the latter in an interview with the Ghana News Agency, said the menstrual pad project will seek support from corporate organizations to help young girls stay in school.

He congratulated members and non-members who contributed to the project, saying “We hope it will go a long way to serve them well and encourage others to support them.”

The 2024 Akrofu Yam Festival brought together natives of the popular farming community from both the country and abroad.

There were activities including health talks, free screenings, cultural exhibitions and cooking competitions with the overall aim of empowering women within the community.
