Suspects in Lifman’s killing caught changing license plates on camera

The two men believed to have shot and killed alleged underworld protector Mark Lifman were caught on camera just moments after the shooting.

Video footage shared with IOL shows the suspects changing the car’s license plates after Sunday’s shooting.

According to a source, the pair, who both work for a security company in Cape Town, were caught behind the wheel of a white VW Polo when they fired a barrage of bullets at Lifman at the Garden Route Mall in the southern Cape town of George on Sunday .

“They shot him five times and sped away. They originally had CY plates on (the car) and in the footage you can see them parking in a field and changing the plates to a CAA registration. This video shows him getting out by putting away the gun and changing the plate to avoid detection,” the source told IOL.

Meanwhile, Western Cape police have confirmed that two killers will appear in the George Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday.

Police spokesman Colonel Andre Traut said: “In collaborative efforts to respond to the crimes and arrest the perpetrators, two suspects have been questioned and are now charged with the murder of a 57-year-old man outside the centre. commercial Garden Route in George.

“The pair, aged 37 and 53, were apprehended near Uniondale on Sunday afternoon and the vehicle they were traveling in was also seized. Their arrest follows a shooting incident that left the 57-year-old man dead.

“After the suspects fled the crime scene, the police, law enforcers, security companies and crime watch groups were activated to track the suspects in the region. As a result, the pair were arrested a few hours later.”
