Church loses $54,000 in robbery

Police in the Republic of Zimbabwe are searching for suspects after a church in the Harare suburb of Goodhope was recently robbed of $54,000.

The robbery, according to police spokesperson Paul Nyathi, took place around 11pm on October 31.

“Police in Marlborough are investigating a robbery that took place at a church in Goodhope, Harare on 31/10/24 at around 11pm.

“Five male suspects, who were armed with a pistol, wearing balaclavas, attacked two security guards who were on duty.

“The suspects ransacked the church compound and stole $54,200 in cash that was in a safe,” Nyathi said in a statement.

Police are also investigating a robbery which took place at a house in Glenwood, Epworth, on November 1 at around 2300.

Two unidentified female suspects confronted the victim under the pretense of buying water before attacking her.

The suspects ransacked the home and stole $7,000 in cash and some food.
