Actress Anya Taylor-Joy and her husband were forced to lock themselves in a closet when a group of masked thieves broke into a London mansion where they were staying in February 2023, it was revealed on Monday.

Taylor-Joy, 28, and her musician husband Malcolm McRae, 30, were staying with McRae’s bandmate Kane Ritchotte at the residence owned by another unnamed celebrity was at home during the horrifying ordeal. Sun. reported.

The crooks tried to get into both parties’ bedrooms after smashing a glass window to get in, but eventually fled empty-handed, leaving the trio “shaken but unharmed”, according to the report.

Kirk Holdrick, 42, was later caught and charged with the burglary. He is currently being held in prison following his not guilty plea and is due to go on trial in September next year.

Holdrick also made headlines in 2022 during a brief fling with Hannah Voyan, a former cast member of British reality show Towie.

Another alleged accomplice is still at large.

There was a reporting restriction imposed on the break-in, which was eventually lifted at Wood Green court in north London on November 3, The Sun reported.

The burglary was reported to the Met Police. CCTV footage was reviewed and forensic checks were carried out at the property.

Taylor-Joy first rose to fame after starring in ‘The Queen’s Gambit’ in 2020. Most recently, she dumbfounded in the dystopian action thriller Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga.
