Kamala Harris is campaigning for a ‘New Way Forward’ from… Kamala Harris

It can be legitimately argued that the vice president Kamala HarrisHis presidential campaign hasn’t really existed since it started.

Harris’ campaign listed a variety of issues and problems affecting the country. And in each ad, she seemed to portray a world in which she apparently wasn’t the vice president United States in the last (almost) four years. A theme of her campaign is “A New Way Forward,” in which she proposes policy remedies to solve the nation’s current problems affecting the public. However, Harris mentions the problems created by her administration and the troubles for which she is largely responsible.

In the most objective of political realities, it is impossible to argue against Harris campaigning for a “New Way Forward” from Harris. A viewing of any of the plethora of Harris commercials that polluted the television schedules this weekend will confirm this. And for those who prefer to read, all you have to do is read the first sentence of the second paragraph on the first page of Harris’s Policy Book“A New Way Forward for the Middle Class.”

“(Harris and Walz) know that prices are still too high for middle-class families, which is why their economic priorities will be lowering the cost of everyday necessities like health care, housing and food, and lowering taxes on more more than 100 million working people. and middle-class Americans,” the policy book says.

However, the “still too high” prices referred to happened during Harris’ tenure as vice president. She tries to portray herself as the hero of the political villainy she is responsible for.

Let’s compare today’s prices to when Trump was in office for some essential food items.

Consider the price of uncooked beef.

right Bureau of Labor Statisticsin February 2017, former President Donald Trump’s first full month in office, the average price of ground beef in the US was $4,029. By December 2020, Trump’s last month in office, the price had risen to $4.55 per pound.

By comparison, in February 2021, Harris’ first full month as vice president, the average price for lean beef was $4.556 per kilogram. Today, the most recent average price available for raw beef, after nearly four years of Harris’ tenure, is $5.917 per kilogram.

Consider the price of eggs.

By February 2020, a month before the pandemic hit the US, the average price for eggs in the US was $1,449. By December 2020, Trump’s last month in office, the price had risen to $1,481.

By comparison, in February 2021, Harris’ first full month as vice president, the average price for a dozen large Grade A eggs was $1,597.

Today, after nearly four years of Harris’ tenure, the average price for a dozen large grade A eggs is $3.821 (latest price available is September 2024). This is an increase of almost 260%.

Consider the price of the chicken.

right Bureau of Labor Statisticsthe average price for a fresh, whole chicken in February 2017 was $1.473 per kilogram. As of February 2020, a month before the pandemic hit the US, the average price for a fresh, whole chicken in the US was $1,362 per kilogram. By December 2020, Trump’s last month in office, the price had risen to $1,621 per pound.

By comparison, in February 2021, the average price for a fresh, whole chicken was $1,583. Today, in 2024, after nearly four years of Harris in office, the average price for a fresh, whole chicken is $1,979 per kilogram — an increase of nearly 25 percent.

These are just some of the prices of some things. We haven’t even mentioned the significant increase in the cost of gas, electricity, utilities, rent, houses, cars, and other everyday items that people across the country are paying far more for than when Trump was in office.

Harris frequently says in her ads, speeches and on the campaign trail that “we’re not going back.” However, it is safe to assume that almost everyone would like to return to the quality of life under Trump. Harris tries to pull the wool over everyone’s eyes by offering a new way forward.

Still, in a way, it might be the most honest thing he’s said on the campaign trail, because everyone, Republican or Democrat, should want a new way forward from Harris — in especially Harris.
