Woman arrested for bomb, shooting threats at Dickinson County National Bank branches

IRON MOUNTAIN, Mich. (WLUC) – One person has been arrested in connection with bomb and shooting threats received at First National Bank branches in Dickinson County Monday morning.

According to Iron Mountain Police and Fire Chief Jeff Solka, a 40-year-old woman was arrested in connection with the threats and is currently in the Dickinson County Jail. She is charged with terroristic threats and improper use of a telecommunications system. Her name will not be released until her arraignment.

IMPD said the bank received the threats around 10 a.m. and police officers responded immediately. The bank has been evacuated and containment protocols have been activated in all branches.

Dickinson County residents may have noticed an increased police presence at First National Bank locations, including the Kingsford and South branches. Police say this was to ensure the safety of all bank offices, customers and employees.

The bank also posted a notice on its Facebook page at approximately 3:00 pm ET/ 2:00 pm CT notifying customers of the branch closures and said it would issue a full statement soon.

IMPD works closely with First National Bank security staff and management to ensure the continued safety of all customers and employees. As part of the investigation, IMPD urges anyone with information about the incident to contact the department at 906-774-1234. All tips will be treated confidentially.

Further details will not be released until the investigation is complete and charges are sought from the Dickinson County District Attorney.
