A man in South Korea hide it dead father’s body in a freezer for more than a year due to family inheritance issues, police said.

The case came to light when the suspect, who is over 40 years old, surrendered to the local. Icheon on Friday from Gyeonggi Province and confessed to the murder. The police then visited the suspect’s home and found the man’s bodyreported that it was his father, in a freezer The Korea Herald.

He visited his father’s home last September and found the man dead. It was not immediately clear how the suspect was transported remains dead of his father.

However, he confessed to hiding the body for more than a year to cover up the father’s death due to “inheritance issues,” the report added.

Police did not elaborate on the nature of the “inheritance issues” as the investigation is ongoing.

Investigators found no evidence to confirm the suspect’s involvement in his father’s death or his attempt to harm the body in any way.

The suspect was charged with violating a section of the country’s law that includes charges of damaging, destroying, concealing or taking possession of a corpse, the report added.

Officials will request an autopsy of the body by the National Forensic Service to determine the exact cause and time of death.
