Police were alerted at 3:41 p.m. to a possible fight taking place in the 2300 block of West Seventh Street in the park.

Upon entering the area, officers observed a large group fighting and heard numerous gunshots, Gretsky said in a news release.

Officers found Wilson with a gunshot wound to the lower back. They treated her and she was taken to hospital.

During the investigation, a second victim, who was identified as a 17-year-old, arrived at the hospital. He suffered a gunshot wound to his leg.

Gretsky said with the time of the incident and the location, police know there were multiple people in the area who witnessed the shooting.

“I’m asking for members of the community to come forward and contact the detectives in my department,” Gretsky said.
