Greenville police are warning against scammers pretending to be deputies on the phone

GREENVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) – The Greenville Police Department is warning residents by phone about scammers pretending to be Greenville County deputies.

Officers report that scammers are calling Greenville residents while posing as deputies and claiming to have active warrants against the recipient of the call.

Scammers demand money and may send messages with a fake warrant to the 4 McGee Street address while threatening arrest if the caller hangs up, police said.

Officers are asking residents to hang up immediately if they receive a call from these scammers and are blocking their number.

Anyone who has been affected or wants to report a scam is asked to call (864) 271-5333.
