4 dead in unrelated weekend shootings, Hillsborough stabbing

A fatal shooting at a Riverview Waffle House, a fatal stabbing at a Carrollwood apartment complex and a murder-suicide in Tampa marked a violent weekend in Hillsborough County.

Four people were killed across the county in unrelated incidents Saturday and Sunday.

Man shot dead at Waffle House in Riverview

The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal shooting Saturday at the Waffle House in Riverview.

Dispatchers received a call shortly after 3 a.m. about a shooting at the restaurant at 10041 US Highway 301 S, according to a news release.

Deputies found a man, in his 60s, with a gunshot wound to the upper body. He died on the spot.

Detectives learned the man and a suspect got into a verbal altercation before the victim was shot. The sheriff’s office has not released the victim’s name.

No arrests have been made.

Detectives asked anyone with information to call the sheriff’s office at 813-247-8000.

Husband kills wife, then himself in Tampa

The sheriff’s office is also investigating a murder-suicide in Tampa that occurred Friday night.

Deputies responded to the 2800 block of Cedaridge Drive around 9 p.m. Friday after receiving information about a missing woman, according to a news release.

Detectives found Waleska Gomez Barroeta, 28, dead inside a vehicle parked at 815 Water Street in downtown Tampa around midnight.

Her husband, Franklin Vegas Delgado, 31, called a relative and said he had killed his wife, deputies said. Vegas Delgado left the parking lot where Barroeta was found on foot after abandoning the car.

At 1:20 a.m. Saturday, detectives found Vegas Delgado dead of self-inflicted wounds at the Marriott Waterside Hotel at 505 Water Street in Tampa, according to the news release.

Suspect, 24, arrested on murder charge, fatally stabbed in Carrollwood

Sheriff’s deputies arrested a man accused of stabbing another man at a Carrollwood apartment complex Sunday.

Michael Aldana, 24, is charged with first-degree murder with a weapon.

Dispatchers received several calls around 2 a.m. Sunday reporting a stabbing in Northgreen at Carrollwood Apartments, 3831 Northgreen Ave. in Tampa, according to a news release from the sheriff’s office.

Deputies arrived to find 19-year-old Arnold Gutierrez with stab wounds. Gutierrez was taken to St. Joseph Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Detectives said an argument between the two men turned into a physical confrontation during which Aldana stabbed Gutierrez multiple times, according to the news release.
