Who is the arsonist in Fire Country?

Season 3 might be in full swing, but there’s still one back story that people just can’t let go of. Catching up on Season 1 fans, who is the serial arsonist in Fire Country?

Fire Country Season 3 is in the process of taking CBS by storm, main character Bode tries and fails to convince his team that he deserves to stay. For those who haven’t watched, binge-worthy TV show follows a scheme for prison inmates that allows them to volunteer for a California fire crew.

In Season 1, there was a different kind of drama. A series of unexplained fires were set in the region, which police believed to be from a serial arsonist working at Station 42. In other words, it was an inside job.

However, they quickly identified the wrong guy as the suspect – here’s everything you need to know about the real-life arsonist in Fire Country.

The arsonist in Fire Country is a double bluff

After blaming another prime suspect, The arsonist in Fire Country is revealed to be Collin O’Reilly – except that’s not his real name. His real identity is Alex Shawcross.

Alex talks to another Fire Country officer

Fans saw Collin join the team in Season 1, Episode 2, where he immediately becomes interested in Bode’s past. He looks down on the fact that he’s a murderer – even though Gabriela quickly comes to his defense, almost accidentally injuring Bode on a call when he steps on a rock that loosens debris from a cliff.

Later in the series, Collin almost blended into the background. However, that changes when investigator Erika Snow arrives at the station to try to find the mysterious serial arsonist.

It happens to be Collin’s day off from the fire department, arriving at a nearby fire while supposedly off duty. During a phone call, fans learn that it was Collin who initially told the police about their current prime suspect’s past history (but more on that later).

As a result, Bode starts a fire to try to get Collin to talk using the fake story. As he blurts out more lies, Bode becomes convinced that Collin is not telling the truth.

Sure enough, not only is he revealed to be guilty, but his real name is Alex Shawcross. Originally from Arizona, he joined the station — and moved to California — under an assumed name.

Jake was the prime suspect in the attacks

Before Alex’s truth is revealed, all eyes were on Jake Crawford due to similar cases in his childhood.

When Jake was younger, a fire started as a baby. This is disclosed to the police by Collin, who has set his sights on him as the prime suspect in the arson attacks.

This doubt is doubled when Sharon discovers that Jake was in Drak Country at the time of the attack…or at least, he was there right before. When she questions him about it, Jake is evasive.

Of course, this is all proven false when Jake is proven innocent and causes him to be more open with Bode about his family life, especially his half-brother.

We still see Jake at Station 42 in Fire Country Season 3… and let’s just say he is not happy with the way things are going with Bode.

What episode is alex caught in?

Fire Country Season 1 Episode 17titled “A Cry for Help”, it was when Alex was finally caught for his crimes.

The official synopsis for the episode reads “An internal investigator suspects Jake of being the recent serial arsonist. arsonso Bode and crew take it upon themselves to investigate.”
