Lannette Kae Garms, 51, of 286 Hill St., Jersey Shore, was charged with resisting arrest, disorderly conduct and harassment after causing a scene at The American Legion, 320 Seminary St., Jersey Shore on Aug. 31, Lycoming Regional Police allege in an affidavit.

Dispatched to a fight in progress, Garms was described as pushing several people as well as yelling and screaming, authorities said.

The incident began as a verbal altercation between Garms and another person before turning physical when he was told to leave by the facility’s manager, after which he allegedly slapped and pulled the manager’s hair, witnesses told police.

While intoxicated, Garms was allegedly combative and argumentative with responding officers, pushing and attempting to hit them, according to court documents.

She was arraigned by District Judge Denise Dieter, waived a preliminary hearing and was released on $2,500 bail.

Also charged in the incident is John Charles Stewart, 34, of 324 Clinton St., Avis, who allegedly repeatedly punched a person trying to break up the fight in the face with a closed fist, continuing the attack once the individual fell to his feet. land, court documents said.

Another witness who tried to intervene was bitten by Stewart, according to an affidavit.

Stewart was arraigned by Dieter on charges of simple assault, disorderly conduct and harassment, waived his preliminary hearing and was released on $25,000 bail.

Garms also faces charges of possession of drug paraphernalia and driving with a suspended license in a separate incident after police allegedly observed her operating a 2013 Dodge Ram registered to another person on Oct. 16.

Because of the alleged drug activity the two were involved in, police requested and received consent to search the vehicle, during which a glass meth pipe was discovered, an affidavit states.

Garms was tried by Dieter on the new charges.
