A theft case in Gopal Pura village, Moth police station, Jhansi, Uttar Pradesh is currently dominating the headlines. According to local 18 Uttar Pradesh, two thieves stole a jhalar (a long thin strip of colored cloth used mainly for decoration in India), lights and cash worth Rs 20,000. Thieves stole these items from more than a dozen homes. Because of these cases of theft, there was an uproar in the entire village of Gopal Pura. Narendra Kumar, a native of Gopal Pura, said he had kept Rs 20,000 to buy the car. According to him, the burglars took that money. He said they also stole the jhalars and light bulbs installed on many houses. Besides these, they also looted peanuts placed in a tractor cart outside a house. Narendra Kumar said the robbers kept these peanuts in a sack and took them away.

According to Narendra Kumar, the thief, identified as Rajan, hails from their village only. Narendra Kumar said that after the theft, Rajan tried to break the CCTV camera. The name of the other robber is not available in the public domain.

This robbery committed by thieves was captured by a CCTV camera installed in the village. In the recent update, the natives of Gopal Pura caught one of the thieves involved in the crime. The apprehended robber covered his ears and apologized for his deed in front of everyone. However, before the police reached the village, the thief managed to trick the people and escape. The victims have submitted a letter of complaint to the police demanding action regarding this incident. Circle Officer of Moth Police Station Harimohan Singh said that based on the victim’s complaint, a case has been registered and the search for the accused is on.

The CCTV camera was in good working condition and hence the locals could identify the thief by looking at him. However, it is not clear, despite being caught by the public, how the robber Rajan managed to escape. Besides this case, many other incidents of theft have been reported from Jhansi.
