Millcreek neighborhood affected by someone shooting at windows with marbles

MILLCREEK, Utah — Millcreek residents say they filed a report with the Unified Police Department on Halloween night after finding property damage and several marbles on and around their property.

“It looks like this was target practice for a paint gun or a marble gun. I don’t know what they’re using, but it does quite a bit of damage,” said Millcreek resident Rebecca White.

Since early October, residents along 700 East in Millcreek have discovered damage to their homes, trailers and cars, and then found a white marble not too far away.

“I looked up and I saw my window over here has a crack in it. Sure enough, I look down, there’s a marble,” said Millcreek senior Dustin George.

George filed a police report with the Millcreek Office of the Unified Police Department.

“It doesn’t make sense that someone would do something like that. It just kills me. It is a quiet neighborhood; I’ve been here since 2019. I’ve never had a problem with anybody, and then all of a sudden they’ve got a guy shooting balls out of a paintball gun,” George said.

White, who is George’s neighbor, has lived in her home for more than 20 years. She pointed out that they have never had problems like this.

“I heard glass falling so I looked over and this window has a star in it. I initially thought it had been hit by a BB, then I looked down and there was a white marble on the ground below.” White said.

Both residents hope the police will take action so this can be stopped.

“I found white balls all over her yard, all over my yard. I started noticing some scratches on my car,” George said.

White said her neighbors a few doors down also had window damage to vehicles that were parked on their property.

“She’s been shot three times. And she’s got white balls all over the car. We just want to catch this guy and hold him accountable. It’s costing me $1,800 to replace a window,” White said.

Some residents are concerned that people will be hurt, especially with many children and pets in the area.

“For the most part, it’s a beautiful area, really quiet,” George said. “You get cars – we’re on a busy street – but other than that it’s quiet and it’s gross for a person to come and ruin all that,” George said.

They encourage others who experience this situation to contact the police.
