The Allentown School District is canceling classes and after-school activities ahead of the Harris rally and concert

The Allentown School District canceled classes and after-school activities for Monday ahead of Vice President Kamala Harris’ rally and concert scheduled for the afternoon.

In a program update distributed on the district websitethe allentown school district said “a planned political rally in the city of allentown” is expected to draw large crowds, heavy traffic and possible disruptions that could affect the safety and security of the school community.

The school district said the decision was made after consultation with the Allentown Police Department. The district administrative center and school offices will open in the morning and close at noon. Administrators and office staff will also be working until noon.

Classes will resume their normal schedule on Wednesday after being closed again on Tuesday for a in-service staff development day.

The location and time of the rally and concert have not yet been announced.

Formerly Allentown School District have canceled classes and activities scheduled for Tuesday, October 29 when the former president Donald Trump held a rally at the PPL Center on Hamilton Street in Allentown.

The vice president’s “When We Vote We Win” rally and concert is another way the campaign is working to mobilize Pennsylvania’s Latino community, according to a news release from the Harris-Walz campaign.

The “When We Vote We Win” rally and concert will include a speech by rapper Fat Joe and a performance by Frankie Negron. The rally and concert in Allentown is one of three Pennsylvania Get Out The Vote events scheduled for Monday.

The Vice President will also organize voter mobilization events in Pittsburgh Harris will then hold another on Monday from 3 to 7 p.m rally and concert in Philadelphia from 5 to 9 p.m

Special invitations for Rallies in Philadelphia and Pittsburgh were announced Sunday afternoon.

The Philadelphia guest list includes DJ Cassidy, Fat Joe, Freeway and Just Blaze, Lady Gaga, DJ Jazzy Jeff, Ricky Martin, The Roots, Jazmine Sullivan and Adam Blackstone and Oprah Winfrey. The Pittsburgh guest list includes D-Nice, Katy Perry and Andra Day.

The campaign said they believe that by having artists and public figures be part of these rallies and present the stakes of the 2024 election, it will encourage those who follow or are inspired by them to go to the polls.
