Trump’s audience gives standing ovation for tough criminal penalties

(NewsNation) — Just days before the election, former President Donald Trump traveled to Michigan and Wisconsin to talk to voters in battleground states.

The crowd in Milwaukee rose to its feet as Trump listed the actions he would take against migrants who commit crimes.

Trump has centered his campaign on tough tactics to stop illegal immigration, including the death penalty for migrants who are in the country illegally and kill an American citizen.

He also spends a lot of time insulting Kamala Harris and saying she doesn’t care about the country.

“My closing message is that I love America and I invite you to join us in building a great future for our nation,” Trump said.

Milwaukee is home to the most Democrats votes in wisconsinbut its conservative suburbs are where most Republicans live and are a critical area for Trump as he tries to reclaim the state he won in 2016 and lost in 2020.

One of the reasons for his defeat was a decline in support in those suburbs of Milwaukee and an increase in the Democratic vote in the city.

Trump was also in Michigan, hoping to galvanize voters in “blue wall” area that could prove critical in determining the next resident of the White House.

Trump has been trailing in recent polls, but the difference between the two candidates is well within the margin of error, making the race a moot point.

His team is trying to clarify comments made by the former president about former Republican Rep. Liz Cheney during a hurricane relief benefit with Tucker Carlson in Arizona.

“He’s a radical war hawk,” he said. “Let’s put it with a rifle standing there with nine barrels firing there; let’s see how she feels when guns are pointed in her face.”

Trump’s campaign rejects claims that she is a threat, saying she was talking about people like her advocating wars they don’t fight.

That’s not how the comment was perceived, and Cheney herself responded to X.

“This is how dictators destroy free nations,” she said. “They threaten to kill those who speak out against them.”

In Michigan, Trump will be meeting with business owners in Dearborn, Michigan, an area with a sea the Arab American community.

Many opposed the Biden-Harris administration’s handling of the Gaza war, sparking a movement during the primary to vote uncommitted delegates to President Joe Biden.

Although Biden later dropped out and endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris as the Democratic nominee, many in Arab and Muslim communities they said they would not vote or that they would vote for third-party candidate Jill Stein instead.

Trump will hope to try to win over these voters, even though he has expressed strong support for Israel and its military actions in the Middle East region.
