Shooting in apartment complex parking lot leaves 2 injured in Mount Airy

MOUNT AIRY, Ohio (WKRC) – Two people were shot and injured in Mount Airy Sunday afternoon.

The incident occurred around 2 p.m. in the parking lot of the Kirby Apartments, located at 5469 Kirby Avenue.

The ages of the victims or the exact circumstances of the shooting are not known. However, a vehicle with broken glass was seen at the scene and has been taken away by police for further investigation.

Mitch Morris, an anti-violence advocate and founder of the nonprofit Save the Kings and Queens Youth, confirmed that the victims were young. Morris said his organization is dedicated to preventing such acts of violence.

“It’s awful, so the biggest thing is we’re trying to be here and interfere with what’s going on with our youth. Just try to educate them about what the gun, what the bullet does to the flesh and what it does to the human being and let them know before it’s too late,” Morris said.
