Comedian Utsav Dixit arrested for rash driving, Porsche accident in Hyderabad

Utsav Dixit, a stand-up comedian and businessman, was arrested on Sunday in connection with a road accident involving a Porsche at Hyderabad’s KBR Park, the city police said.

Utsav Dixit, 33, a resident of Banjara Hills, allegedly drove his luxury car in a reckless manner and hit her in the boundary walls of KBR Park in the early hours of Friday. He then left the car and fled the spot, Telangana Today reported.

Initial investigations indicated that the accident occurred due to reckless driving, causing Dixit to lose control of the vehicle, Deputy Commissioner of Police S. Venkat Reddy was quoted as saying by Mathrubhumi.

The accident was reported around 5:45 a.m. on Friday when a person informed the police about it.

Upon arrival, patrol officers found a red Porsche with front damage and a missing license plate number. Regarding the car’s missing number plate, police were quoted by the Deccan Chronicle as saying that Dixit noticed it had broken off during the collision. He put the pieces in the villain of the vehicle and left the place.

Further investigation revealed a broken plate inside the car.

Following the accident, a suo-moto case was registered based on the patrolling officers’ report.

Dixit was tracked down and later arrested after the police verified the available evidence. His driving license was revoked. He was then subjected to alcohol and drug tests, the results of which are pending, according to legal procedures.

Police said Dixit had left the house following a domestic issue and was going to distribute sweet boxes to fellow comedians. The police produced him before a court under the Prevention of Damage to Public Property Act.

According to Deccan Chronicle, an expert from the luxury car dealership explained that accidents involving high-end cars are not caused by the driver alone. The driver should be aware of the car’s aerodynamics, tires, servicing and performance, he said.
