Evansville man faces felony charges after stealing tools from Hope Depot, deputies say

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) – An Evansville man is facing more than a dozen charges after deputies say he stole numerous items from Hope Depot.

On Oct. 30 at approximately 5:30 p.m., Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the Home Depot on Pearl Drive for a report of theft.

A loss prevention officer told authorities they wanted Ronnie D. White II and two other men banned from the store.

An investigation led deputies to surveillance video that allegedly showed White and another man trying to leave the store with a cart full of power tools.

Deputies say in the video that one of the suspects abandons the cart behind and leaves the store after being confronted by the loss prevention officer.

During an interview with authorities, one of the suspects told deputies White was involved in six other theft cases from the same Home Deport.

A few days later, deputies arrested White and questioned him about the thefts.

Deputies say White identified himself and the other suspect in photos from surveillance video.

According to an affidavit, White told detectives he was selling the tools he stole at a discounted price on Facebook Marketplace and to people he “lived with.”

Ronnie Delmonte White II, 30, was arrested Saturday and booked into the Vanderburgh County Jail without bond.

He faces seven counts of organized burglary and seven counts of theft – an unrelated prior conviction.
