SEC football standings after Week 10 action

Texas A&M (7-2, 5-1 SEC) is no longer the last undefeated team in SEC play as the Aggies laid an egg on the road against what appears to be the best 5-3 team in the country in South Carolina after getting blown out 44-20 inside Williams-Brice Stadium.

Underwhelming doesn’t really sum up what we all witnessed in the second half. Both teams were tied 20-20 before the Gamecocks completely dominated A&M’s struggling defense, outscoring the Aggies 24-0 after halftime.

While the Aggie offense with QB Marcel Reed couldn’t get anything going in the second half, especially after junior quarterback Le’Veon Moss left the game with a knee injury, the defense missed 25 tackles on the night, and that gaudy number looked like it should have be bigger. Combined with the tackling issues, Texas A&M’s once-respected run defense allowed nearly 300 yards and three touchdowns on the ground.

Heading into the bye week, head coach Mike Elko and his pitching staff has a lot of work to do before hosting New Mexico State in two weeks.

In the rest of the SEC, Ole Miss looked like the team we all expected it to be after destroying Arkansas 63-31, while Georgia and Tennesee escaped close contests to keep pace in the SEC race.

After another fun weekend, here are the latest SEC Power Rankings after Week 10.

Week 10 results: Goodbye week

Analysis: I could easily place Vanderbilt over Alabama right now, but I still think the Tide offense will find its footing after the bye week. Next, Alabama will travel to Baton Rouge to face LSU with many CFB Playoff implications.
