KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) – The Knoxville Police Department said an investigation is underway after a man fell from his 11th Street parking garage on Saturday.

According to KPD, officers went to the area of ​​the parking garage on Cumberland Avenue at around 7:15pm on Saturday, where a 21-year-old man was seriously injured after falling from an upper level of the parking garage.

The victim was taken to the University of Tennessee Medical Center, where he remains hospitalized with life-threatening injuries, KPD said.

KPD said it is not yet known whether the victim jumped on purpose or fell accidentally, but based on witness statements and preliminary investigation findings, police believe he was intoxicated at the time of the incident.

The investigation into the incident remains active and ongoing.
