A man has been charged with murder following the death of a woman in the western Auckland suburb of Glen Eden

Police were called to a property on Brandon Street just after 11pm on Sunday to find a woman who had been stabbed multiple times.

She was taken to hospital but died a short time later.

Detective Senior Sergeant Kim Libby from Waitemata CIB said a 33-year-old man was arrested at the scene and charged with her murder.

He will appear in the Waitākere District Court on Monday.

Police were not looking for anyone else in connection with the woman’s death.

The cordons remained in place and an examination of the scene was underway, Libby said.

“An increased police presence will remain in the area while inquiries are carried out, however we do not believe there is any ongoing risk to the public.

“Our thoughts are with the victim’s family and we are offering them support at this tragic time.”
