A draft Policy on Transfer and Appointment of Subordinate Court Judges, 2024, prepared by the office of the Supreme Court Registrar, suggests that judges of any subordinate court should not be allowed to serve in a particular place for more than three years.

“If it appears to the Chief Justice that any judge is engaged in special duties and there is a possibility that his transfer will cause a disruption in the judicial administration, that judge shall be allowed to work in the same job for not more than one year more. ” the project specified.

The Supreme Court Administration, in a press release, said that in his speech on September 21, the Chief Justice, Dr. Syed Refaat Ahmed, had earlier outlined the formulation of a policy on the appointment and transfer of judges from subordinate courts, addressing all judges, lawyers and judicial officers from all over the country at the Supreme Court’s Inner Garden.

Later, the administration of the Supreme Court formulated the project according to the indication of the Chief Justice. To collect the opinions of the judges of the subordinate courts,

Supreme Court Registrar General Aziz Ahmed Bhuiyan has today (November 3) sent letters to all courts in the country asking them to submit their written opinions by November 7 via email ((email protected)) or Whatsapp at 01716185583.

According to the draft, no judge will be allowed to be transferred or seconded to a particular job more than twice in a row, and no judge will be allowed to be transferred or seconded to a particular job or district for more than more than three times.

“No judge will be allowed to be transferred to such a job, where the spouse, father, brother, mother, sister, father-in-law, mother-in-law work as a lawyer,” the draft states.
