A woman shoots her neighbor a bigger lawn, but is met with rudeness instead

Disputes between neighbors about property lines are common. Mow the lawn too far a few times and you could soon have an angry neighbor on your hands! The woman in this story, however, opened Pandora’s box when she began planning a new fence around her property.

woman it went on TikTok a few months ago to ask people for advice on how to keep their peace with a neighbor. After surveying the land, it turned out that he was encroaching on her part of the land. However, at first he was not so eager to solve this problem amicably.

Woman asked for advice on how to handle dispute: ‘I have to live next door to this man too’

I have a dispute with my neighbor and I want to know what you would do. So you can see, this is my lawn here. This is my neighbor’s lawn.

I want to put a fence behind my house. I knew this was not our boundary, our property line, but he kept cutting again and again and closer and closer to my yard. And so I asked to meet with him before building the fence to give me an extra leg up.

He was very condescending and very rude, he kept telling me to take a survey because I think he thought he was going to waste space. I knew it wasn’t true.

I kept trying to work it out with him. I told him I didn’t want to pay for the survey if I didn’t have to. I was glad to give him some space, because there isn’t a lot of space in his yard to begin with. I was trying to be nice, right?

Not. Now I want to be petty and I need someone to either give me permission to be petty or tell me that’s bad karma. So I called an inspector. I had the inspector come out today.
There are my lines. That’s my limit. This is his alley. This is my boundary line. You can see it all the way through. So I ended up with more legs than I expected. Multiple. And he’s very unhappy, which I don’t blame him for. He is very unhappy with how close it is.

I was not at home when the inspector did this. The inspector sent me these pictures. I have him on my ring camera at, like, 2:06 p.m., putting my paperwork in the door. By 2:16 p.m., these stakes were out of the ground.

The neighbor came and pulled them out of the ground because he didn’t like where they were. So he picked them up and threw them to the ground.

I texted my neighbor and told him he can’t do that again. That means destruction of property. If he doesn’t like where the boundary lines are, he’s more than welcome to do his own survey that he pays for.

He’s welcome to call my guy to come back, which he’ll pay for, but he can’t move them again. I put them back where I could see the stakes were. Put them back. So anyway, he kept saying I was wrong. The inspector was wrong. He’s going to town.

I have been asking this man for two months to talk about this whole issue with me and he kept putting me off. He wouldn’t do it. He was not susceptible. He wanted me to pay for everything, to do them, and I was fine with that. Doesn’t want to split the cost of the fence? No problem. Don’t want to pay for the survey? No problem. I understood.

So now I have two options. What I’m thinking is either the fence goes to the property line or I can cut where the tree is and make an angle if that makes sense.

So if this were you, what would you do? Would you be mean or kind about it? Because right now, I’m so irritated. If this is the kind of rage he only throws over stakes in the ground, what will he do with an actual fence? So anyway, I know it’s a lot, but what would you do? Give me your thoughts.

As more and more people became invested in the fence drama, the woman’s video garnered more than 14 million views

A week later, she posted a long-awaited update

The drama doesn’t end there – the tree caused some headaches for everyone involved

TikTok creator Juniper Pearl, aka @my_socalled_life, posted the first video in the saga on August 14. Since then, there have been quite a few updates. Juniper met with the neighbor and it seems they were able to come to an amicable resolution.

However, that didn’t last long. A week after the second update, the neighbor withdrew his decision to have the tree removed. This was another key to Juniper’s fence efforts, and it didn’t make much sense because an arborist he hired said it would be best to remove it because it was too sick to be moved.

After that response from the neighbor, Juniper read about “border tree” laws. Interestingly, she found out that the tree was not on the boundary at all – it was 100% on her side of the property.

Juniper submitted a tree removal request HOAbut the board wanted official evidence from the surveyors and arborist. She refused to file formal statements, mostly because she didn’t have any, but also because she felt they were selectively applying the rules to her.

After checking the HOA bylaws, Juniper learned that home owners you do not need a permit to remove a tree if its diameter is less than six inches. Because the tree in question was only 2.95 inches in diameter, Juniper concluded that it did not need HOA approval. However, the board rejected his request and insisted on evidence.

Several conflicts with the neighbor ensued, but the woman eventually took her fence

Then came the thousands of people watching the drama for the creator. While the HOA insisted on an official arborist inspection, the people stepped in and funded the $450 fee. Juniper happy people for their financial help: “I had a good cry because of everyone’s kindness.”

Finally the HOA approved her fence and she decided to go for it build the fence a few feet into her property so the tree stays outside. Her correspondence with the neighbor also became increasingly passive-aggressive as he began threatening to get his own inspector and say the HOA would not approve her fence.

On October 13, the tree fell. Juniper documented everything, and the neighbor came out at one point to argue with the landscapers. “As soon as I noticed the neighbor was outside, I ran back ready for a confrontation, but he immediately left. I haven’t heard a peep from him since,” Juniper he wrote.

Then, on October 24, the story finally saw its climax – the fence it was finally there! The builder opted for a 6-foot privacy fence and can finally enjoy her peace from the grumpy neighbor.

In her videos, Juniper also talked about how crazy the whole experience was. She didn’t expect her story to get 14 million views and for people to become so invested. Soon after the video went viral, she turned off the comments, saying it was too much. But eventually she embraced her role as “Neighbor drama lady on TikTok” and has now even accepted the moniker “New Fence Owner” in her bio.

And this is what her yard looks like now, with a brand new fence

“It’s not petty to own your property,” the commentators said, advising the woman to go full speed ahead.
