An Israeli naval force carried out a “special operation” in the northern Lebanese coastal city of Batroun early Friday and captured one person, a security source said.

Another source confirmed the incident but did not say who was responsible.

Lebanon’s National News Agency said security forces were investigating the incident.

An Israeli military official said “a senior Hezbollah operative who serves as an expert in his field has been detained.”

The official said the agent has been transferred to Israeli territory and is being investigated.

Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati has called for an investigation into the kidnapping of a Lebanese national in the northern coastal city of Batroun, a statement from Mikati’s office said on Saturday.

He identified the captured person as Imad Amhaz.

Mikati consulted with the Lebanese army and UNIFIL officials and asked Foreign Minister Abdallah Bou Habib to submit an urgent complaint to the UN Security Council, the statement added.

Pro-Hezbollah journalist Hassan Illaik said in a post on X that a large group of Israeli troops landed at the resort and captured the man, before leaving in speedboats.

He shared CCTV footage that appeared to show soldiers walking down a street, two of them holding a person.

Lebanese Transport Minister Ali Hamiye, who represents Hezbollah in the Lebanese government, said the video was accurate but did not provide further details.
