King Charles and Prince Williams get £543m from charities and public services, report says

The private estates of King Charles and Prince Williams generate millions annually in income from public services and charities such as the armed forces, the NHS and state schools, the BBC reported, citing a new documentary by Channel 4’s Dispatches and the Sunday Times.

According to the documentary, King Charles’ private landed property, the Duchy of Lancaster and Prince Williams’ property in Cornwall are part of a deal worth almost £50m (equivalent to 543 million).

However, the real estate properties and their transactions “comply with all relevant UK legislation and regulatory standards applicable to its range of business activities”, a spokesman for the Duchy of Lancaster told the BBC.

About the Royals’ rental offers

The Duchy of Lancaster has struck an £11.4m deal to stock a new fleet of electric ambulances, the investigation found. The deal has been completed with Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Trust in London, the BBC reported.

The investigation also revealed that the Duchy of Cornwall has charged the navy more than £1m since 2004 to build and operate breakwaters and warships on the Cornish coastline.

The six different leases granted by the duchy will generate wealth of around £600,000 over its lifetime.
