Deadly shooting at the house of St. Stains in construction considered self-defense: Police

SF. PETERSBURG, Fla.Investigators said that fatal shot to a Saint Petersburg the house that was under construction was considered self-defense.

The shooting happened around 1:30 p.m. Friday at a vacant home located at 1400 Farragut Drive North. The police department of St. Pete said the house is under construction and being remodeled by a work crew.

Officials said there was a disagreement over payment between the general contractor, Mostafa M. Ah Abdo, and a subcontracted tile worker. During the height of the argument, the tile worker began breaking the completed tile work, according to police.

That’s when Abdo went to his truck and got a gun and threatened the tile worker, SPPD said. The tiler’s father was also at the site laying tile, and he pulled out his own gun and shot Abdo when he started threatening his son.

The general contractor died from his injuries. Investigators said they determined the shooting was “justified self-defense,” and the tile worker’s father has not been arrested.
