VICKSBURG, Miss. (WLBT) – A man is in custody and a woman is recovering from injuries in an aggravated assault in Vicksburg.

A news release says shortly after 5 a.m. Saturday, Merit Health River Region reported a man to the emergency room with a stab wound to his upper body.

Minutes later, Vicksburg police officers were dispatched to the area of ​​the intersection of Churchill Drive and Indiana Avenue for a female victim lying in the street, according to the news release.

She was taken to the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson for treatment. Her condition at this time is stable.

Following investigations, the police determined that the man and the woman were involved in an incident of domestic violence.

Daron Evans, 28, was arrested after being released from the emergency room.

He is charged with aggravated domestic violence assault. He is being held without bail pending his initial appearance in Vicksburg Municipal Court.
