DC Jitendra Jorwal is mobilizing civil and police teams to prevent farm fires, educate farmers and provide machinery to manage paddy stubble responsibly.

Deputy Commissioner (DC) Jitendra Jorwal said instructions have been issued to the teams to leave no stone unturned for the next 15 days on the ground and fire prevention. Joint civilian and police teams worked in the fields even on holidays and educated farmers on the harmful effects of farm fires. The teams also ensured that farmers have access to farm machinery that will help them manage barley stubble.

Civil and police teams comprising officials from PPCB, agriculture, revenue, BDPO, DSP, SHO conduct daily marches in villages to deter criminals.

Under the direction of Deputy Commissioner Jitendra Jorwal, the teams are coordinating with sarpanches, youth clubs, village committees and other stakeholders to raise awareness about the ill effects of stubble burning. Around 211 nodal officers and 90 group officers along with their police counterparts are closely monitoring their respective areas to prevent incidents.

Jorwal said 8,978 machines including balers, rakes, super seeders, smart seeders, surface seeders, zero seeders, RMB ploughs, mulchers, straw choppers, super SMS, reapers, rotary cutters and tractors were provided to farmers through personalized employment centers. , societies and groups.

The DC also appealed to the farmers in the district to act responsibly and not indulge in burning paddy stubble in the larger interest of the people. He noted that it is the need of the hour to make people, especially farmers, aware of the effects of burning barley stubble, which poses a danger to human health and the environment.
