Three influential Naga organizations on Friday sent a 48-hour ultimatum to the Manipur government demanding justice for two Naga men who were allegedly “brutally beaten up” by the Imphal-based Meitei Arambai Tenggol group.

The Naga People’s Organisation, Senapati District Students’ Association and Senapati District Women’s Association issued a joint statement setting a 48-hour deadline to the state government and said they would continue to seek justice for the two Naga men.

“The Manipur government must provide justice to both the victims without delay within 48 hours. Failure to do so would leave us no choice but to take additional measures to protect our community. We also appeal to all citizens of the district to remain vigilant and ready to unite in seeking justice for our Naga brothers,” the three Naga bodies asserted.

Strongly condemning Arambai Tenggol’s attack, Naga bodies alleged that Meita’s group violently attacked V Hrangao Blesson Poumai and Dalou Poumai at Lamshang in Imphal on Thursday.

“In addition, an amount of 61,400 lei was collected from the two young men by the outfit at gunpoint. Despite providing proof of their identity, they were repeatedly threatened and attacked with automatic rifles, violating fundamental human rights and undermining the fundamental values ​​of life, respect. , and dignity This blatant act of violence has no place in our modern society,” Naga organizations said.

The Naga bodies’ statement said the attack on Blesson and Dalou was a direct violation of their personal safety, dignity and fundamental rights.

“It is not only an attack on two individuals, but also an affront to the values ​​of entrepreneurship, hard work and community contribution. This behavior undermines the principles of professionalism, respect and peace that our society strives to uphold,” they said. .

Amid the ethnic violence of the last 18 months between the Meitei community and the Kuki tribes, there have been some incidents involving Naga tribesmen in Imphal.
