New York Republicans turn out to vote early in record numbers

More New Yorkers than ever are heading to the polls early — and the results appear to be good news for Republicans.

As of Thursday, 1,964,393 votes had been cast in New York — including 701,402 in NYC, according to the state Board of Elections.

That puts the state on pace to surpass the early voting total during the last presidential election, when 2,507,345 New Yorkers voted early over nine days.

In The seven battleground congressional districts of the Empire State, Many more Republicans are voting earlier than in 2022, when the GOP flipped four New York seats on its way to a slim advantage in the House, according to data provided to The Post by New York Republicans on Saturday.

Alex DeGrasse, executive director of Rep. Elise Stefanik’s campaign, said Thursday’s early voting results show the state’s Dems “led by Kathy Hochul are in total free fall” and “no amount of spin can hide that.

“New York Republicans are turning out for early in-person voting in record numbers, far exceeding our 2022 margins in every seat, some by 50 percent,” he said. “Long Island looks great, as does the Hudson Valley and upstate.”

As of Thursday, 9.24 percent more Republicans than Dems voted in 1 of Suffolk County.St The congressional district, home to Republican incumbent Nick LaLota positioned to defeat Democrat John Avlon.

In the other six swing districts, which include two other Long Island seats, Dems outspent Republicans 3.04 percent to 16.35 percent.

With Democrats outnumbering Republicans in New York by more than 2 to 1, and President Biden winning most of the state’s battleground congressional districts in 2020, the slim margin favoring Democrats shows big gains by to the GOP.

Unlike the 2020 election, when Republican Donald Trump lost the presidency to Joe Biden after telling supporters not to trust the early voting process, the former president is in this period — and urged Republicans to vote early and support their bid to return to the White House.
