King Charles III fears reconciliation with Prince Harry. Here’s why

King Charles III it seems that he is afraid to come to terms with Prince Harry because of potential legal risks related to Harry’s ongoing lawsuit against the Home Office.

The prince’s trial stems from a 2020 decision to limit his police protection while in the UK. Concerns from constitutional experts include the possibility of Harry sharing private conversations, as seen in his Spare memoirs, which could lead to misrepresentations that could legally implicate the King.

A senior constitutional adviser to the royal family said telegraph“Here you have the unfortunate situation of the King’s son suing the King’s ministers at the King’s courts. That pulls the King in three directions.”

“You also have the king’s son publishing accounts of private conversations, some of which were, shall we say, wrong.”

Harry’s comments could land King Charles in legal hot water

The adviser pointed out that if Harry revealed a conversation with his father about the case – accurately or not – it could put the King in “serious legal jeopardy”.

This concern echoes past incidents such as the 2002 trial of former butler Paul Burrell, which collapsed due to Queen Elizabeth II’s sudden recall of key information, leading to claims of undue royal influence in judicial proceedings.

Palace officials, however, indicate that King Charles is open to mending relations with Harry and Meghan, but needs to be careful, especially given that some palace staff feel misled by Harry’s past comments. Staff say they did everything they could to help the Duchess of Sussex, although they say she often refused to cooperate.

In June, Harry was granted permission to appeal a preliminary dismissal of his case, seeking a “fair and lawful application” of security policies enforced by the Royalty and VIP Executive Committee (Ravec). A spokesman for Harry said: “The Duke of Sussex hopes to get justice from the appeal court. The Duke is not asking for preferential treatment, but for a fair and legal application of Ravec’s own rules.
