We can bring you more now from Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez on the deployment of 10,000 more troops to flood-hit Valencia.

“All in all, we’re talking about the largest deployment of emergency services and the military that we’ve ever had in peacetime in our country,” he says.

He reports that 4,800 rescues have already been carried out, in addition to helping more than 30,000 people.

“Unfortunately, the scale of this disaster means that this is not enough,” Sanchez admits.

“We know that aid takes time to reach certain locations. There are still garages and houses that are blocked off and people are still trapped.”
