NorthEnd Alliance 111 receives grant from Imperial Valley Wellness Foundation

NorthEnd Alliance 111 has received a grant from the Imperial Valley Wellness Foundation, allowing the organization to expand its efforts in providing essential services to vulnerable populations in the Imperial Valley’s north end communities.

The grant will help support the Alliance’s mission to meet the basic needs of those in the community. NorthEnd Alliance 111 expressed its gratitude to the Imperial Valley Wellness Foundation for its commitment to community health and wellness, saying the funding has a significant impact on both the organization and the people it serves.

Community Schools Empowerment Night

The Community Learning Center will host a Community Schools Empowerment Night on Tuesday, November 5, 2024 from 5:00pm to 6:00pm. The event will include a guest presentation by the Bonita Family Resource Center.

Attendees will learn about nutrition talks, as well as the CalFresh and Covered California programs and how to access application assistance. Attendees are encouraged to share their voices and opinions during the event.

The Community Learning Center is located at 260 D Street in Brawley.

US Border Patrol El Centro District apprehends a fugitive migrant

The US Border Patrol’s El Centro District announced the capture of a fugitive migrant linked to fentanyl trafficking. Acting on a tip from Homeland Security Investigations and Manatee County, Florida, agents detained the individual in the local area.

Border Police have stressed their commitment to stopping criminals from hiding in communities. The migrant was transported back to Florida to face a warrant related to his trafficking charges.

Dune baggy was stolen

A blue 2005 Sand Travel Dune Buggy was stolen Thursday morning here on Glamis Flatts Road.

Imperial County Sheriff’s Office activity logs show the report was made at 8:40 a.m. on Oct. 31.

The reporting party told the agency that the vehicle was stolen around 4:00 a.m

Deputies conducted patrol checks in the area but were unable to locate the vehicle which was registered to the Stolen Vehicle System.

Dead individual found

The body of an individual was found here on Thursday morning.

According to Imperial County Sheriff’s Office activity logs, the body was reported at 11:13 a.m. on Andrade Road on Oct. 31.

No further details were provided in the logs.

HOLTVILLE

Vehicle with expired registration impounded

A vehicle was impounded by the sheriff’s office Thursday afternoon with a more than six-month expired registration and other violations.

Imperial County Sheriff’s Office activity logs said a silver four-door Honda Civic with Arizona registration was pulled over at 12:23 a.m. at Fern Avenue and Fourth Street.

According to the logs, the vehicle was also parked for more than 72 hours.

Woman arrested on bench warrant

A woman was arrested here Thursday on a misdemeanor bench warrant.

Imperial County Sheriff’s Office activity logs show the arrest occurred at 4:46 pm at Birch Street and George Avenue.

Logs show the suspect, who has been identified as 35-year-old Christina Corral, was taken into custody at the scene. Deputies later confirmed the arrest warrant that initially ordered law enforcement to issue a citation and release.

The woman was transported to the corner of Fourth Street and Wake Avenue, where she was arrested and later booked into the county jail.

Man arrested for probation violation

A 28-year-old man was booked into the county jail Thursday afternoon on a probation violation.

Imperial County Sheriff’s Office activity logs show Luis Ramirez Venegas was stopped at State Street and Imperial Avenue.

The suspect was booked into the county jail by Probation Department personnel at 2:08 p.m. on Oct. 31 without bail.

Man arrested for attempted first degree murder

A 27-year-old man was booked into the county jail Thursday afternoon on charges of attempted first-degree murder and two other felonies.

Imperial County Sheriff’s Office activity logs say Eric Michael Kofoed was arrested at Camp Pandarosa here.

The suspect was booked into the county jail at 2:42 p.m. on Oct. 31 on $1 million bail for battery with serious bodily injury, assault with a deadly weapon other than a firearm and attempted murder.

Man arrested for DUI, evading a peace officer

A 20-year-old man was arrested at the El Centro District Court for evading a peace officer, resisting arrest, driving under the influence of alcohol, driving under the influence of alcohol over the state limit and battery on a spouse. or cohabitant.

The suspect was booked into the county jail at 3:42 pm on October 31, with bail set at $10,000.
