3 Dead, Multiple Injured in Northglenn Halloween Party Shooting | Crime and Justice

Three people are dead and several others were injured after a shooting in the 200 block of Belford Drive near Bruce Lane in Northglenn Friday morning.

Northglenn police officials remain tight-lipped about the incident as it remains an ongoing investigation.

At a news conference Friday afternoon, police spokesman James Burlison confirmed that Northglenn police responded to a call of shots fired at the home near Belfor Drive and Bruce Lane just after midnight Friday morning early.

“They discovered a large house party with multiple people suffering from gunshot wounds,” according to a police news release Friday morning.

Police said when officers arrived, they found between 20 and 25 people still inside the home where a Halloween party was taking place.

Burlison said one person died at the scene and five other people were taken to area hospitals suffering from gunshot wounds.

Two of the victims transported to the hospital were pronounced dead.

There are currently no suspects in custody.

The house was a rental property and neighbors described it as an overcrowded, “slumdom” situation in what is normally a super quiet neighborhood.

Kimberly Mopar and her kids had just settled in after a fun night of trick-or-treating. Mopar lives across the street from the Northglenn home where shots were fired at a large Halloween house party, leaving three people dead.

“I heard what I thought were fireworks around midnight,” she said. “And I thought, ‘Who sets off fireworks on Halloween?’ Then I heard gunshots and people screaming.”

A shelter-in-place was issued, and Mopar said within minutes the once-quiet street was flooded with police and emergency vehicles.

Three people were killed and several others were injured in a shooting in the 200 block of Belford Drive in Northglenn on November 1, 2024.

Neighbors say the house where the party took place is a known rental property with a history of problematic tenants.

The most recent tenant, a neighbor said, is a single mother with several children.

“They were only there for a month,” Mopar said, noting that the house was recently cited by local authorities for a “makeshift condo, renting out rooms and patio as units.”

Sara Vonfelt lives next door and also heard the shots.

She estimates that somewhere between 15-20 rounds were fired.

Her daughter, who Vonfelt asked not to be identified by name, said that hours before the shooting, a man approached her and her brother, asking for an address.

The daughter and her brother also said they heard “gang chirps,” or whistles that gang members are known to use to announce their presence.

Vonfeldt, she and her family plan to move.

Police said they believe multiple shooters were involved and are trying to identify the suspects.

The identities of the victims are being withheld pending notification of family members and will be released by the Adams County Coroner’s Office.
