Suspect shot by Baptist Health officer indicted on 6 charges

ELIZABETHTOWN, Ky. (WAVE) – The suspect who was shot in Baptist Health Hardin’s emergency room on Oct. 19 was indicted on six charges by a Hardin County grand jury, Elizabethtown police Chris Denham said.

George Lee, Jr. faces two counts of kidnapping, three counts of wanton endangerment and one count of persistent felony.

Police said Lee was armed with a gun and was firing shots into the hospital around 5 a.m. that day, but no one was hit.

The E-Town police arrived to confront Lee, when Lt. Alex Ruiz fired a shot and hit Lee. Ruiz, a 10-year veteran of the department, has been placed on administrative leave.

The indictments were served upon his release from the UofL Hospital.

Lee will be held at the Hardin County Detention Center.
