Rochester man charged with criminal sexual conduct

A Rochester man has been charged with multiple counts of criminal sexual conduct related to an incident in Grand Meadow.

Jose Hector Contreras-Paredes, 30, made his first appearance Thursday in Mower County District Court, where he was charged with five counts of sex crime.

According to the criminal complaint, the case dates back to Aug. 29 of this year, when the Grand Meadow Police Chief responded to a Grand Meadow residence on a report of a sexual assault.

The victim reportedly reported that the incident occurred at her home in the early morning hours of August 29 after Contreras-Paredes, known to the family, drove to her home.

At 1 a.m. on August 29, she told Contreras-Paredes she was going to bed after being called by him, but when she went to drop him off, he immediately walked in the door and started kissing her .

After she told him she didn’t want to participate, he continued to press on her, groping her and physically hurting her in the process.

On August 30, a Mower County Sheriff’s Office detective questioned Contreras-Paredes about the incident, and during the questioning, he told the officer that he was drunk and that he remembered doing some of the things the victim did. claimed, but that he could not recall other aspects of the alleged assault.

The report goes on to say that at no point did the victim consent to Contreras-Paredes touching her.

On Oct. 23, the state filed paperwork that it plans to seek an aggravated sentence because of the incident that occurred in the victim’s private area.

Contreras-Paredes’ next court date is scheduled for Nov. 14.
