Store clerk caught selling alcohol to minors in Redding during sting operation

The Redding Police Department (RPD), in collaboration with California Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC), conducted Operation Minor Decoy on Friday, aimed at reducing alcohol consumption in the city.

During the operation, officers visited 23 businesses and a store clerk was found selling alcohol to a minor at the Comets gas station located at 1905 Eureka Way.

Store employees who sell alcohol to minors face a minimum fine of $250 and/or 24 to 32 hours of community service for a first offense. In addition, the ABC will take administrative action against the liquor license of the business involved, which could include a fine, suspension or permanent revocation of the license.

The penalty for providing alcohol to a minor is a minimum $1,000 fine and 24 hours of community service.
