GTA 5 PC players are about to get the exclusive features from the console versions

It may seem slow, but GTA 6 is slowly looming on the horizon. In the next chapter of Rockstar’s open-world crime saga, we’ll finally return to Vice City and enjoy some sweet Leonidas sunshine. Until then, however, Los Santos remains our center of illegal operations, and that’s good news for Grand Theft Auto 5 PC players. Rockstar confirms that the upcoming GTA Online update in December will introduce new heists, Dispatch Work missions and possibly the return of one of the story mode’s central characters. More importantly, the Red Dead Redemption 2 developer says that GTA 5 features that were previously exclusive to current-gen consoles will finally make their way to PC in 2025.

The GTA 6 release date it’s still on the way – and will probably arrive later for PC players – but it’s based on the latest Grand Theft Auto 5 update, there is still plenty of joy to be found in the state of San Andreas. In December, the Darnell Bros clothing factory will come under new management – teaming up with Pavel and “an ex-FIB officer turned independent contractor”, you’ll turn the factory into a front for new robberies. First, it looks like Dave Norton, Michael’s contact in the main story, might make an appearance. Second, Rockstar confirms that you’ll be able to access Garment Factory missions from a new app on your iFruit phone, saving you the trouble of going back there to restart whenever a job goes wrong.

The sandbox game it also gets additional Dispatch Work missions, an update to the job creation system, and a new collectible scanner to help you identify action figures, props, and the rest of Los Santos’ hidden treasures. More important than the December update, however, is what comes next.

Rockstar confirms that in the new year it has “plans to bring the much-requested PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S features of GTA Online to the PC platform.” While the developer doesn’t specify what these might be and says it will provide more details soon, the console editions of GTA 5 give you access to an extensive range of high-performance cars through Hao’s Special Works. The PS5 and Xbox versions also include performance mode, which targets 60fps and 4K resolution, and the option to enable ray tracing.

Load times are faster, and there’s a greater variety of NPC pedestrians and cars, as well as improved shadows and water effects, and a variety of smaller quality-of-life improvements, including a revised tutorial and a new main menu. Hopefully some, and maybe all, of these features will make it to GTA 5 on PC. Let’s see.

In the meantime, we have all the latest GTA 5 modsas well as the best GTA 5 cheats to be used in 2024.
