Annoying/harassing electronic communications: A Saratoga student reported receiving multiple obscene text messages from unknown suspects.

Check fraud: A Saratoga resident reported that someone obtained his check, which the victim deposited in outgoing mail at the U.S. Post Office on Allendale Avenue, then altered and cashed the check for a total loss of approximately 15,732 USD.

Identity theft: A Saratoga resident reported someone used his personal information to open an account with an online payment company and racked up about $115 in debt.

October 24

DUI: At 8:46 a.m., deputies stopped a driver at Quito Road and Montpere Road for a traffic violation. The investigation revealed that the driver was driving under the influence of alcohol. The suspect was arrested and sent to the main prison.

Shoplifting: At 5:55 p.m., the suspect entered the Safeway in the Argonaut Center on Saratoga-Sunnyvale Road and stole approximately $480 worth of merchandise. Deputies later identified him and attempted to contact the suspect. The suspect found out about it and then went to a Safeway in Santa Cruz to pay for the stolen merchandise.

Residential burglary: At 8:19 p.m., someone entered a residence in the 20000 block of Beauchamps Lane by breaking a sliding glass door and stole jewelry valued at approximately $22,500.

Stolen vehicle recovered: At 11:01 p.m., deputies recovered a previously stolen vehicle from San Jose at Clemson Avenue and Swarthmore Drive.
