Tragic school father Shay Kang is a convicted murderer

Hardi Hamad was jailed in July for murdering father-of-two Ali Salih Abdalaah in Ladywood, Birmingham. He helped beat him to death outside his home on October 22

Hamad, 35, admitted manslaughter by reason of diminished responsibility, the same charge Shay’s mother Jaskirat Kaur, 33, was last week sentenced to an indefinite stay in a secure facility of mental health.

Hamad blamed his mental health problems on a traumatic brain injury he suffered in a car accident in 2014, which affected his cognitive ability.

The parents lived together when Shay was born, but separated when she was young. Shay lived with Kaur in Rowley Regis and when she was nine, her mother stopped her from attending Brickhouse Primary School.

Paranoid schizophrenic Kaur became paranoid and delusional and believed her daughter would be kidnapped while at school.

Shay’s godmother Kayleigh Colclough told Wolverhampton Crown Court she drove Hamad and an expecting Kaur to her home. However, due to their toxic relationship, she told Hamad that he had to leave the property.

She said, “There were a lot of arguments between the two, so I asked my father to leave. Jaskirat and Kaur were living with me. She was aggressive.”

The pair lost touch after Kaur moved to Robin Close in Rowley Regis.

Brickhouse Primary School alerted West Midlands Police and Sandwell Social Services who visited the property and commented on Kaur’s troubled state of mind. However, Shay was still living with her mother when she was stabbed to death in March this year. Due to Shay’s mum and dad being in custody, Brickhouse Primary School organized her funeral in September.

Kaur told detectives: “I stabbed her, not to cause pain, but to end it. I tried to put my hand over her mouth and nose so she couldn’t scream or shout. I woke her up just after midnight and decided to kill her. I was going to choke her, but I couldn’t go through with it.

“So I stabbed her in the chest, she said ‘ow, I hate you.’ He didn’t scream. He ended up walking by her side.”

She added: “I looked at her when she looked back at me. So I did it again. She was struggling to breathe. I felt sick. So I put the pillow over her head and put my weight on her. After the last stab, she left.

“I can’t claim it, I can’t adopt it, I can’t take it. No matter what I say, it won’t make sense, but it does to me. You consider it a crime, but to me it is a relief.”
