A murder investigation has been launched following the fatal stabbing in Harrow

A murder investigation has been launched after a man attacked in Harrow died from his injuries.

Detective Inspector Luke Hampton from the Met’s Specialist Crime Command said: “This is a complex scene with several people living within the address. We have made an arrest and our investigations to establish the full circumstances are ongoing.

“At this early stage we believe this was an isolated incident and there is no apparent risk to the public.

“A man lost his life and a family received the worst possible news. If you have any information, please do not hesitate to contact us.”

Police were called by the London Ambulance Service just before 4.40pm on Wednesday 30 October to reports of an injured man at an address in Sussex Road, Harrow.

Officers attended. At the scene, a 48-year-old man was found with knife wounds. He was taken to the hospital where, despite the efforts of the medical staff, he unfortunately died at 14:35.

The victim’s family has been notified. A post-mortem examination will be scheduled in due course.

A 37-year-old man was arrested later that evening on suspicion of attempted murder. He was taken to hospital for treatment for minor injuries before being arrested at a north London police station, where he remains at the moment.

Superintendent Chris Clarke who leads local policing for Harrow, Barnet and Brent said: “We are supporting our crime specialist colleagues as they carry out their inquiries and local residents will see a more visible police presence in the area to provide reassurance.

“If you are concerned or have any information please do not hesitate to approach officers or contact your local neighborhood policing team.”

Anyone with information that could help the investigation team is asked to call 101 quoting reference CAD 5281/30OCT24.
