Terrifying footage emerges of supermarket worker threatened with knife after armed robbery in Diggers Rest

The CCTV standoff has been released by Victoria Police as officers continue to investigate an armed robbery at a supermarket in Melbourne’s north-west.

A worker at the Diggers Rest store was threatened with a knife during the horrific ordeal which took place on the evening of Saturday, October 5.

The member of staff was outside the Glitters Road store at around 8.15pm when an unknown welder approached.

Police said on Friday that the man threatened the worker before dragging him into the supermarket where demands were made for money.

The supermarket worker was at one point grabbed by the head and had the knife pointed at his face, but they were not physically injured during the encounter.

Another staff member appeared to be present behind the cash register at the time.

The man later fled the scene with money. He was caught on CCTV falling as he tried to run on Welcome Road.

Police said the man is about 175cm tall, of thin build and of Caucasian appearance.

“He was last seen wearing gray pants, a black windbreaker with a Nike logo and black work boots,” a police statement said.
