When former President Donald Trump he was shot in the ear at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, JD Vancehis future running partner was playing miniature golf with his family in Cincinnati.

Vance, who lives in the East Walnut Hills neighborhood of Cincinnatitold the story on Joe Rogan’s podcast, “The Joe Rogan Experience”, Thursday.

“I actually thought they killed him because when you first see the video, he grabs his ear and then goes down,” Vance recalled after seeing the video. from Trump’s July 13 rally. “I’m like, ‘Oh my God, they just killed him.’

After watching the video, Ohio Senator he said he brought his family back to their home in Cincinnati and took their guns.

“At first I was so upset, but then I went into fight or flight mode with my kids…I was at a miniature golf place in Cincinnati, Ohio. I pick up my kids, throw them in the car, go home. and load all my guns and basically stand as a sentry in our door, and that was my reaction to it,” he said.

Vance’s neighbors The Enquirer previously said they noticed more security outside his home after the assassination attempt. Ohio Governor Mike DeWine seems approved additional law enforcement for residence monitoring.

A few days before the rally, Trump told Vance he was a favorite for his vice president and suggested they go to Butler together and announce him as his running mate, Vance said. But Trump ultimately decided against it, saying they needed more time to prepare an announcement. He chose Vance as vice president two days later on July 15.

Vance’s 3-hour interview with Rogan aired nearly a week after Trump also appeared on the podcast.
