4-star QB running out of Michigan, Clemson named school to watch

CLEMSON – Decommitment season remains in full effect as 4-star quarterback Carter Smith dropped a verbal commitment to Michigan late Wednesday night.

The 6-foot-3, 190-pound signal caller from Bishop Verot (Fort Myers, Fl) announced the decommitment in a social media post. Smith has been with the Wolverines since last November.

Shortly after the announcement, On3 named Clemsonalong with Penn State and Wisconsin as schools to watch for progress. While the Tigers are now looking for a quarterback in 2025 after 4-star Blake Hebert left for Notre Dame just over two weeks ago, Smith does not currently have an offer from Clemson.

Wisconsin already has a quarterback in the class of 2025 in 3-star Landyn Locke, and the Badgers have yet to offer Smith. The top talent holds an offer from the Nittany Lions, but Penn State also has a commitment from 3-star quarterback Bekkem Kritza.

With the early signing period set to begin on December 4th, expect Clemson to make an effort adding a quarterback to the class. Although if he gets involved in this particular one remains to be seen.
