Ogre redesigns, new items and more

Creative Assembly is releasing Update 5.3 for Total War: Warhammer 3 on October 31st, 2024, bringing some reworked ogre-related mechanics, a flurry of brand new magic items, and a free unit along with several other tweaks and fixes.

Ogre Kingdoms players will be able to take advantage of a reworked Bounty system, while everyone benefits from overhauled Ogre Mercenary mechanics – the studio has already detailed both The ogre redoes in the previous week, so it’s nothing new. The same goes for a new unit introduced with this update, a Grave Guard halberd variant for Vampire Counts.

However, there’s a lot to discover in this update, such as a list of brand new magic items – some of them unique – that you’ll be able to find in your campaigns. from now on.

Rework Ogre Bounties

“We plan to release an extensive rework for the Ogre Kingdoms in the next DLC pack, along with an expanded Mercenary Contracts feature for Golgfag Maneater. Therefore, we felt that the existing Contracts feature needed a refresh, and we were able to implement it before that release.”

Research overflow

Previously, completing a technology’s research while having a high tech rate could result in the research being “wasted” due to overkill. Creative Assembly has changed the system so that this is no longer the case.

“With our new system, when you finish researching a technology with extra points, those extra points will be stored as ‘research point surplus’ in your tree. technological. This surplus will then be automatically applied to the next technology you research. Enjoy the small (but now real) benefits of the 5% research rate for a long, long time.”

Display range of motion

“We’ve reworked the way the campaign’s movement range is displayed in an effort to improve clarity when moving and changing positions. Previously, range of motion was displayed as a percentage, but often represented a numerical value under the hood. To make this clear, the range of movement is now shown as a numerical value, while bonuses will still be shown as percentages. This change should make entering and exiting positions much easier to understand, especially when calculating the range of motion you need!”
